Wanna get a glimpse of heaven this summer? Then find the nearest sunflower field in your proximity and stand in awe of God’s beautiful creation. Blue-shaded mountains in the background and tons of fluffy clouds in the sky are a bonus!

A girl on my college residence hall proposed the amazing idea of visiting a sunflower festival that was an hour away from our campus, located in Buchanan, Virginia. Now, I didn’t find out till the Saturday morning we were leaving that it was not just a field, but an actual festival. You can imagine my genuine shock and admiration when we arrived upon fields and fields of sunflowers!

For all of you who are familiar with the Enneagram (it’s basically a trendy personality test), for some reason I tested as Type 6, but I’m positively certain that I am a hardcore Type 4 personality. There is this Instagram account called @enneagramandcoffee that often shares lists of how each type typically reacts in certain scenarios. For example, by the beach, Type 2s would probably say to everyone, “Here, use my sunscreen. I’ve got plenty of snacks for everyone. No need to pay me back.” Type 9s would say, “I think I’m gonna stay in this time. You all have fun.” As for type fours, this was our description: *Goes to most secluded area and stares off into the ocean* 3 hours go by. “This is magnificent.”
Haha, guys, I was so triggered when I read that! In a good way, of course. Cause I basically do that exact thing every time I visit the beach. I look out into the blue-shaded distance for longer than the average person and spend my time wondering how God is so incredibly talented to create such a vast and peaceful looking setting. Well folks, that’s exactly what I did when we visited the sunflower fields this past weekend.

All I wanted to do was absorb my bright-yellow surroundings and stand agape. And if I hadn’t had my friends tagging along, I probably would have stayed in my fixed state of admiration for the whole day long, even until the sun went down. As nice as my pictures are, they don’t do justice to just how surreal of a place Beaver Dam Farm is during this time of year.
They put together an amazing festival by the way. There were plenty of food trucks and local country music artists playing originals and classic covers like “Folsom Prison Blues” by the one and only Johnny Cash. There was this one little redhead boy that kept bopping up and down to their music which was so cute to watch. I love how festivals wonderfully bring all kinds of people from all different walks of life together.

I’d highly encourage all of you to visit a sunflower field near you before they are out of season. Summer is quickly coming to an end, so I hope that you make the most of these fun and warmer days. Soon enough, there will be plenty of other fun things to do like wandering through apple orchards and going pumpkin picking. I will be sure to share some of my adventures when the autumn season rolls around!
