Every time I travel to Skylands Manor with my family and friends, a rush of joy and excitement fills my childlike heart. One reason I relish the summertime is because of the many opportunities I have to get lost in beautiful, botanical gardens. The gardens around Skylands Manor are particularly gorgeous.
I remember the first time I visited the manor with my mom and sisters. The moment I thought I'd explored all of the beauty the grounds had to offer, I'd walk down a different path and unexpectedly find more gardens to admire. Ever since that first visit, I like to think that I'm somewhat like Mary Lennox, wandering through hidden and unexpected gardens with new curiosity every time that I return to explore. (Anyone else familiar with the story, The Secret Garden, by Frances Hodgsen Burnett?)
This past May, my mom drove my sister and me to Skylands Manor once again to see the lilacs in full bloom. I happily dressed in pink to match their soft, floral shades. I hope you enjoy this creative assortment of pictures from our day trip!
I’m so grateful that we were able to visit the gardens while the sun was shining. The reason I say that is because the next time I'd try to visit Skylands Manor with my childhood friend, a massive thunder storm would roll through and force us to leave real quick! Check out this funny video that my friend recorded when we were starting to joke about the impending storm (for context, I was trying to imitate Paula Deen lol):
Thanks for visiting my blog! I hope you'll stay tuned for my upcoming summer-themed posts. I've got plenty of more summer adventures to share with you all!
Till next time, Madison
