Surrounded by Jack O'Lanterns

There is an incredible Halloween event in Sleepy Hollow, New York called the Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze. The moment you walk through the gates, you're led down this darkened path where the only sources of light come from the jack o'lanterns all around you.

There are over 7,000 individually carved pumpkins on display which is mind-blowing when you think about how much time and effort is dedicated to make that possible.

Some of the pumpkins are carved to resemble faces and different animals while others are grouped to form different figurines including flowers, spiders, and even tall dinosaurs. Some of the pictures I took on my camera do not have the best focus since it was so dark out, but I thought I would include most of them anyways to show you how spectacular of an event it was!

My favorite pumpkin formation (I love flowers!)
"Pumpkin Zee" Bridge instead of Tappan Zee Bridge!
The face in the middle reminds me of Mr. Potato Head

It was the Irish who instilled the spiritual essence of Halloween in America. After reading one of the signs at the event, I learned that the Irish had also started the tradition of jack o'lantern decorating around the house in order to ward off evil spirits!

Here's a short video I made to show you more of the jack o'lanterns!

Overall, I was amazed by how many pumpkins we saw, and I enjoyed getting to spend a fun evening with my family in Sleeeepy Hollow. By now, most of you are probably trick-or-treating or having fun at costume parties, so I hope you enjoy the last day of October with your friends and family!

Happy Halloween, Madison
